Blueprints to Blastoff - ISS Tour for Buhl Planetarium

"Blueprints to Blastoff" addresses the potential advancements during the next 100+ years of space exploration starting with the development of a new generation of spacecraft and the planned return to the Moon. After a nighttime launch of NASA's new SLS,the program heads for the International Space Station [ISS] for a tour of the current configuration of labs and experiments.

Blueprint diagrams of the ISS describe the various modules, then viewers get an inside look at the experiments being conducted in the zero-g environment of Earth orbit. The sequence is designed to allow constant revisions and additions as new experiments and modules are added.

The story unfolds as an Orion capsule heads for the ISS for docking. This video version includes a highlight of the gamma ray instrument and a peak inside the cupola as the space station passes over the northern arctic region and an aurora. The program is presented immersively using the new 8K Digistar7 fulldome video system in the planetarium's 50 foot dome with 10 - 4K video projectors fed by 10 syncronized computers, filling the dome with high definition video.

The video here is showing a wide front view of the 360 degree immersive experience. The "Blueprints to Blastoff" program will be distributed by the Buhl Planetarium to planetariums requesting the program as part of the NASA grant's specifications.
